About Independent Steps
Independent Steps was created to provide hope and support to people in Norfolk who are faced with a neurological condition, and all the challenges this might bring.
We believe we can empower children and adults discover their full potential, and foster a desire to be an active and fulfilled member of society.
We have over 20 years experience and knowledge working with people with neurological conditions affecting mobility and communication, including movement and genetic disorders (such as Cerebral palsy, Downs Syndrome, Angelmans Syndrome, West Syndrome, Spina Bifida), Long Covid, progressive neurological disorders, specific learning difference (SpLD) including Dyspraxia and Dyslexia, sensory processing disorders and Autism. We believe everybody can learn and achieve, in spite of their starting point.
After an initial assessment, we provide bespoke programmes based on agreed goals, breaking down tasks into achieveable and realistic steps. We will listen and respond sensitively, adapting programmes where necessary, and provide a wider net of support, including signposting. We are able to suggest novel and exciting strategies, providing the framework for success and the development of a sense of worth.
